Waxing FAQ

BABE, WE GOT YOU...

It’s normal to feel a little nervous, we will make every effort to make you feel at ease and taken care of. Your goodies are in good hands.

How long will my wax last?

Waxing can keep your skin hair free for up to 2-4 weeks, however results may vary  with each person due to different hair types and how frequently you wax.

How do I prep before my wax?

A day or two before you wax, gently exfoliate with a mild scrub, brush, mitt, or loofah to remove dead skin cells that surround the hair follicles. Exfoliating helps loosen existing ingrown hairs and improves your waxing results.

How long does my hair have to be?

Stop shaving 2-3 weeks before your wax. The hair needs to be long enough for the wax to adhere. Hair should be 1/4 inch long or the size of a rice grain.

Is waxing painful?

The truth is that everyone's pain threshold is different, so what might be too much for some is barely noticeable for others. A sting like sensation can be felt immediately after waxing, this is the tiny nerve endings in your hair follicles reacting to the removal of the hair, and this will pass in seconds. After regular waxing the discomfort lessens because the hair follicle becomes weaker and your hair gets softe.

Im pregnant can I still wax?

If you are pregnant, congratulations! And yes you can still wax. However, you may experience more skin sensitivity due to the hormonal changes your body is going through. I will make you as comfortable as possible during the service. We recommend checking with your doctor before you get waxed during the last two months of pregnancy.

Can I still wax after a tan / spray tan?

We recommend waiting at least 24–48 hours between waxing and tanning because your skin may be more sensitive. Because waxing exfoliates the skin by removing the top layer of dead surface skin cells, you're more likely to experience sunburn. If you are going to go in the sun within 48 hours of waxing, we recommend wearing a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more.

If you just got a spray tan I don’t recommend getting waxed, because this exfoliates the top layer of skin and can mess up your spray tan look.

Can I wax during the "time of the month"

Most definitely! We can absolutely wax you if it's that time of the month. Just be aware that the area is more sensitive and you may experience more discomfort than usual, also be sure yo have on a tampon.

What is the difference between waxing and shaving?

Waxing provides smoother and longer lasting results by removing the hair from the root, whereas shaving cuts the hair right below the skin’s surface, causing a prickly feel days after shaving. Waxing is also healthier because it provides a physical exfoliation, removing lifeless surface cells. In other words, waxing will give you the smoothest skin – and the smoothest experience.

After your appointment care

FIRST 24 HOURS

After a wax, your hair follicles are open for the first 24 hours. It’s important to follow the rules below to prevent any bacteria from getting in your hair follicles, this will ensure the smoothest results possible. It is normal to have a little redness or tenderness after waxing.

  • No touching

  • No exercise/sweating

  • No tanning

  • No swimming, steam rooms or saunas

  • No sexual contact

3-10 Days Post Wax

As your skin closes over the follicles, the next consideration is to ensure you prevent ingrown hairs. This is when new, often softer hair can get trapped under the skin. A few simple measures can easily avoid this situation. Here’s where the “do’s” come in:

  • Use a soft brush or exfoliating glove to gently buff the area every 2-3 days – this is particularly important after about day 3 through to about the 10 day mark. It doesn’t need to be hard scrubbing, just a gentle exfoliation.

  • We will recommend a product to you on the day of your appointment. We recommend using a product that contains glycol acid, Lactic acid etc... which helps ensure dead skin cells are buffed away allowing your hair back through the follicle opening.

  • The added bonus of following the after care advice (apart from your skin looking hair-free and smooth for longer), is that it really will make your next wax a whole lot quicker and less painful.
